Frequently asked questions

How is coaching organised?

Ideally, the coaching will continue for a period of at least three months, with two sessions each month (approximately one hour each). In addition, the coach is available to answer questions by email or phone.
Before the first coaching session, we ask you to fill out and return a questionnaire so that we can optimally prepare your coaching.
In corporate coaching the program usually starts with a detailed analysis. The coaching then continues in person or via phone or Skype.

How do you measure the success of coaching?

The first results can often be achieved after one meeting. Because coaching is always goal and action oriented, results can be very precisely measured. Some subjects are easier to work on than others. So sometimes success will feel more obvious and at other times it becomes clear only some time after the initial coaching. It is important to discuss your goals and expectations with your coach at the beginning and get feedback from your coach.
Your success will also depend on how committed you are to the coaching process.

What do the experts say about the business value of leadership development and coaching?

The ICF survey found that over 98% of surveyed corporate coaching clients found that overall coaching programmes delivered ROI six (6) times the cost of the coaching. In addition to increases in productivity and retention, greater organisational commitment and improved bottom-line profitability were observed.

What factors are important in the success of a coaching program?

1. Clear goals 2. Success is measured 3. A good match between the coach and the client/coachee 4. The coach has business and consulting experience

What does coaching by phone or Skype “feel like”?

Coaching by phone or Skype is a cost-effective and practical time-saving approach, since it can be done from any location. Coaching via phone or Skype is already very established in the USA and at multinational companies around the world.
In addition to this practical component, one big advantage of coaching by phone is that it is very intense. The coachee is highly focused and concentrated on the coaching, which leads to very good results.
For many clients coaching by phone is still new and raises doubts. The best way to judge is to try it. Many clients say after experiencing a trial session that coaching by phone made it possible to be even more open with the coach. Bettina can alternate or combine phone coaching with personal meetings on request.

Is the content of the coaching confidential? Will it be shared with third parties?

All contents of coaching with BAS-Coaching are strictly confidential. This is the basic ethical principle of our work.

How is coaching different from training, mentoring or therapy?

Therapy focuses on problems, and the style of problem solving often concentrates on finding the origin of the problem in the past.
Training, or workshops, is a means to share knowledge. The trainer has expertise or special knowledge and communicates this to the trainees.
In mentoring, someone who has been in a similar situation can share knowledge about the company that can help you achieve success. In many companies there are mentoring programmes, such as a manager mentoring a younger employee for training or when s/he advances to a new assignment.
Coaching is different from these. Coaching supports you first to set your goals and build up your own abilities. Coaching allows you to overcome your own barriers and opens your eyes to new perspectives. The focus of coaching is on the future and your ability to create the future you desire based on your goals.

What does it mean if your coach has been trained by CTI?

CTI, with headquarters in San Francisco, is the international market leader in the education and certification of coaches, and has trained the highest number of coaches worldwide for over 15 years. The CTI curriculum is recognised by the International Coaching Federation, ICF. CTI developed co-active coaching more than 15 years ago and is training coaches worldwide with this unique approach.

What does it mean if a coach is certified?

The certification is the highest international degree available for coaching and gives insight to the coach’s level of experience. A certified coach has proven his/her skills through a defined number of coaching hours. CTI offers additional quality control in the form of supervision and scoring of a set number of coaching sessions. Moreover, every coach takes a written and oral exam in English after training several months.
